Biography
Professor Line Lapointe is a plant ecophysiologist specializing in spring geophytes. Much of her laboratory's research focuses on the mechanisms that control resource allocation patterns, as well as cold adaptation in these species. This work includes the study of annual carbon balance in perennial species, source-sink relationships and their effects on growth rates, and the study of mechanisms controlling leaf lifespan. She has also carried out work on understory grasses in maple stands, notably the impact of white-tailed deer overabundance and climate change on their growth and reproduction. Some of these species are of commercial interest, and agroforestry projects are also underway.
